India Day Celebration (2017) in Malmo

Few days back, we celebrated ‘India Day’ in Malmö. It was organized by the Indian Association in Sweden (IAS) in collaboration with the Embassy of India, Sweden. It was a special and joyous occasion marking the 5th anniversary of IAS. It was also a great opportunity to meet other families and friends. The delicious, traditional Indian food only made the event more enjoyable  😀

We had the privilege of having Her Excellency Mrs. Monika Kapil Mohta, Ambassador of India to Sweden and Latvia, as the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests of honor including Dr. Mats Lindroos, Head of Accelerator division, European Spallation Source (ESS); Lars Eklund, retired deputy director for the Swedish South Asian Studies Network (SASNET); Carina Nilsson, the Deputy mayor of Malmö and Annette Brejner, Creative Director of the Financing forum for Kids content in Malmö. More than 200 IAS members participated in this grand celebration. It was also a symbol of how lovingly the Swedish society has embraced us.

The evening was full of entertainment. Several delightful folk dance performances reminded us of the rich diversity inherent in our culture. Moreover, tapping feet to the Bollywood tunes is always a pleasure, in addition to this, melodious singers made the evening more enchanting .My friend and I also had the privilege to participate on this occasion. We performed a traditional dance from the Indian state of Maharashtra, Lavani and Pinga 🙂 🙂

Here is a glimpse of the delightful evening…
